Bargaining Update

Yesterday, Monday, May 4, 2026, Union Nurses handed out flyers demanding safe staffing and calling out Management for not providing the information we need to negotiate. Management responded by walking out of negotiations, refusing to give us counterproposals to our demands and refusing to conduct negotiations on-premises going forward.

This is wrong and illegal. Management is retaliating and refusing to bargain in response to legally protected union activity.

We are not backing down! Ownership has made it clear they prefer to play games and delay rather than negotiate a fair contract. We will be taking a STRIKE AUTHORIZATION VOTE 08:00 AM May 13 – 5:00 PM May 15 to protest their behavior. We are also amending our Unfair Labor Practice Charge to include this new violation.

Here is what you can do:

  1. Attend Negotiations on May 11 at 10:00 AM (now at the Holiday Inn Conference room). Space is limited, so please RSVP ahead of time: https://forms.office.com/r/qT49K5r0M6
  2. Commit to Vote YES to authorize our Bargaining Team to threaten and/or authorize a Strike.
  3. Ask Questions at our Strike Vote Townhall Friday at 6:00 PM: https://aft.zoom.us/meeting/register/k7oTMF2ySA6-bhtp51GqJQ or Next Wednesday at 8:00 AM: https://aft.zoom.us/meeting/register/_NIvKWpzRH6vagw8sntQ3w
  4. Talk to your Coworkers! Tell them what’s at stake, why it’s important to vote YES, and why we are taking this serious step.

The Strike Authorization Vote is a YES/NO vote to authorize your bargaining Committee to Threaten and/or Call a Strike if necessary.  It will be online. All members will receive an email and text with a secure one-time login 08:oo AM on May 13 and will have until 5:00 PM May 15 cast it. ONLY HPAE MEMBERS can vote. If you are not yet a member, you can fill out the membership application on our website: https://hpae.org/local/local-5107/
