Phoenix Center Important Union Update, May 12, 2026

Yesterday (5/11), we met with Management for our fourth bargaining session. We served them with our amended Unfair Labor Practice Charge. Then, management presented their counterproposals. They increased their proposal for a raise by 0.25%, agreed to some successor protections (in case they sell the facility), agreed to increase Charge pay to $3, but continued to reject our proposals for Safe Staffing and Better Benefits.

Management still has not provided all the information we need, especially insurance documents.

The reason we have made any progress at all is because members have been STRONG and UNITED. Thank you for your continued support.

Our next step is a STRIKE AUTHORIZATION VOTE May 13-15. All HPAE members will receive a secure one-time voting link by text and email at 08:00 AM. This link is unique to you. Do not share it. You have until 5:00 PM on May 15 to cast it. If you are not yet an HPAE member, you can join here: https://hpae.org/local/local-5107/

Your bargaining committee recommends a YES vote to show management we are STRONG & UNITED and will not stand for their illegal behavior.

This is NOT a vote to go on strike immediately. It IS a vote to authorize your bargaining committee to call a strike if it becomes necessary. We need every tool possible to force management to bargain in good faith, and an overwhelming YES vote is one of the strongest tools we have.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Talk to your coworkers. Ask them to commit to vote YES immediately when they receive their ballot.

If you have questions, attend a Q&A session Wednesday 5/13 at 08:00 AM https://aft.zoom.us/meeting/register/_NIvKWpzRH6vagw8sntQ3w OR 6:00 PM: https://aft.zoom.us/meeting/register/SSDz5iCHR86MeSgRzVqyOg

Our next session is 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on May 20 at the Holiday Inn Conference Room. Space is Limited, so please RSVP: https://forms.office.com/r/dk6wVy8K25

In Solidarity,
