The Administration has failed to present any update on wages over the last two negotiations sessions, despite having added an extra session. They are trying to stall us, hoping we will back down.

The wages that UH is putting on the table are still not satisfactory for us, and we believe our work is worth more. Healthcare workers deserve better than less than 1% across-the-board increases!
HPAE locals 5089 and 5094 will continue negotiating with University Hospital in Newark during this final week of contract expiration to give the employer every opportunity to bargain, safe staffing, fair wages, and benefits.
There could be a potential nurse strike next week at University Hospital in Newark when their current contract expires on Sept. 30. While the two sides have been meeting, the union representing nurses says little progress has been made.
On September 23 and 24 we met with University Hospital management to continue negotiating over our contract.
Our Solidarity Rally was a success! The corner of Bergen and 12th Ave was painted all union red as HPAE members gathered to show support for each other.

It is critical that you participate in Union actions to show support for our bargaining proposals! Our September 16th session was not worth our time. Every time we think we take two steps forward, the Hospital takes a step back.
On September 6th, with only 24 days left until our contract expires, we met for our 5th session with University Hospital. We are deeply frustrated with the administration’s latest proposal, which disrespects our hard work and dedication to our patients.
As we continue negotiating your wages, benefits, and safe staffing with University Hospital, we join forces to show UH management that all Nurses and Healthcare Professionals unionized under HPAE support the proposals at the bargaining table.
