Local 5621 Negotiations Update, May 5, 2022
We concluded two days of negotiations this week and made some gains we’d like to share:
- Management agreed to our proposal that allows for nurses to complete some mandatory education remotely. This will give you the ability to do required courses, such as HealthStream, from home/away from work.
- We agreed to a deadline extension for the BSN requirement of staff hired after August 4, 2015. Employees hired prior to that date will continue to be grandfathered in and will not be required to obtain their BSN.
- After much discussion, management withdrew their proposal changing per diem requirements. Current contract language regarding minimum requirements will still apply.
However, many important issues have not yet been resolved. The ability to reassign you to Vineland/Elmer/Bridgeton campuses and making up a weekend callout remain open issues.
Inspira is making their economic proposal next Thursday. This will include a response to our across-the-board raise, differentials (charge, preceptor, reassignment, night shift), and on-call pay.
Happy nurses’ week! We are stronger with the support of each other.
