Local 5105 Bargaining Update, May 19, 2023

We are happy to announce that you all voted nearly unanimously to authorize our committee to give a 10-day notice for concerted activity! Thank you to all who attended the Virtual bargaining update and voted! This coupled with our powerful actions during Nurse’s week will continue to give us leverage at the negotiation table as we move towards the final stage of bargaining.

At yesterday’s bargaining session, we worked on some of the secondary issues before tackling the issues most important to us. Some progress was made at yesterday’s session, but we still remain far apart on our top issues, which you know are Staffing, WAGES and Health and Safety. Next week’s sessions will be critical, and we continue to invite all members to join us on Monday the 22nd virtually and in person at the Barry Brown Health Education Center (HEC) on the 25th. Here is the link for registration: https://www.hpae.org/2023/03/local-5105-negotiations-session-sign-up/

Whether we give a 10-day notice to the hospital will depend on how bargaining progresses on Monday May 22nd. Please keep on HIGH ALERT for possible CALL TO ACTION. If we decide we do need to call for an informational picket, we will need ALL available nurses to participate and make our collective UNION voices heard. If you have not been to one of our actions/activities and want a fair contract that we deserve NOW will be the time to SHOW UP!

In solidarity,
Your Local 5105 Bargaining Committee
