Local 5621 December 2024 Union News
Your local executive board would like to review some of the things we do to make staffing and safety a priority for our bargaining unit nurses.
We have what is called a Labor Staffing Committee that meets with Inspira Leadership every other month. We provide an agenda the week prior to make them aware of the issues we will be discussing. We have used this forum to discuss staffing and safety issues for years, among other extremely important issues. Reach out to your unit reps to get issues included when necessary.
Please know that we are repeatedly advised by management that if there is an issue to please ARC it up. If you tell your manager and get no resolution in real time, then call house supervisor, director, VP, so on and so forth. Please know who is in your direct Chain of Command. The leadership team for Inspira will always ask when we bring forth an issue that occurred if it was ARC’d up in real time. Please, also follow up with an email so there is written documentation that the issue was brought up. Feel free to CC one of the LEB members in the email.
The following are the steps for filling out short staffing forms
PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS SO YOU HAVE THE INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR PHONE.

- Staffing forms
One staffing form can be completed per shift for all nurses working that shift, it is not necessary to have each nurse fill out their own form. Use the spaces provided to fill in as much detail as possible including who was made aware of issue.
Please, also note if you did not see a message/text from leadership for help, as we try to keep track of that information as well. Feel free when you are short to ask your management if they sent out a needs list, or text/email for help followed by incentive offer if no one picked up the needed shifts. Also, when there is a critical need management can do bargaining unit work per the contract.
We are going into negotiations at the beginning of the year so expect a survey from HPAE. These answers will direct us on the important priorities of the membership.
Your Local Executive Board wishes you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
