Notice of 2021 Nominations and Election of Local 5094 Officers and Union Representatives
The Nominations and Election Committee announces that there are seven local officer positions and 65 representative positions that are up for election this year.
Important COVID Vaccine Mandate Update
While HPAE continues to bargain with the Hospital regarding the impact of this mandate on our membership, it is imperative that our members either schedule their vaccination appointment or apply for either a religious or medical exemption.

Rutgers, unions spar over mandatory vaccines for health care workers
Rutgers Health will require its health care workers to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 moving forward, the school announced Monday, triggering a potential showdown with organized labor groups that have opposed mandatory inoculations.

This legislation would enhance public sector unions' right to information under the WDEA (The Workplace Democracy Enhancement Act) and give public sector workers the same rights and protections as workers in the private sector.

We held a joint meeting with Rowan administration and CWA last week to discuss Juneteenth, evolving plans to reopen the campus, and vaccines. We wanted to give you some updates from that meeting.
For New Jersey’s only public hospital to succeed, it needs sufficient funding
We applaud the administration for their announcement on April 14, alongside University Hospital CEO Dr. Shereef Elnahal, Essex County and Newark political leaders, to dedicate resources in the state budget to invest in a new building for the state’s only public hospital.
