Community and Labor Groups to Host Town Hall Event on Monday, Sept. 24th: Concerns for the Future of University Hospital and Public Health Care
Labor unions and community organizations are partnering with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka to sponsor a Town Hall to discuss:
- the future of children’s healthcare services at University Hospital, New Jersey’s only public hospital and a designated level one trauma center; and
- the need for transparency of private-public partnerships in healthcare and education, including the partnership of Rutgers University and RWJ Barnabas.
Panel Discussion featuring Senator Loretta Weinberg
Date: Monday, September 24, 2018
Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Location: NJ Institute of Technology
Kupfrian Hall
Jim Wise Theater
99 Summit St. Newark, NJ
As the State appointed monitor continues to evaluate University Hospital’s ability to maintain quality services and its financial stability, this town hall is an opportunity for the community to raise their concerns and ask questions from elected officials and community leaders.
The Town Hall is sponsored by a coalition of 23 labor unions representing 20,000 members on Rutgers facilities across the state, as well as NJ Citizen Action, People’s Organization for Progress, NJ Communities United, Newark NAACP, and NJ Appleseed.
