This recent WARN filing with the New Jersey Department of Labor comes on the heels of Hudson Regional's illegal closure of Christ Hospital.

Last night (4/1), Management sent out a new WARN (layoff) notice. This WARN notice is identical to the one management sent out in 2024. They've been 'extending' that original Notice for the last year and a half.
Hundreds of union members in every department stood up to oppose layoffs, signing petitions, making phone calls, and speaking in meetings. Although HRH is laying off a small number of members, we will ALWAYS oppose ALL layoffs to the maximum.
Hudson Regional Health has notified their employees of their intent to close Christ Hospital, renamed Heights University Hospital, by 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
HPAE convinced the bankruptcy judge to agree to preside over timelines for BOTH Missed 401(k) matches.
Last week, Management sent a 30-day layoff notice covering several workers in Food & Nutrition, with future layoffs across the Hospital being considered.
2025 has been a tremendous year for our union! We started out by winning back our stolen time and holiday bonuses.
This pay period, deductions for the HPAE Retiree Medical Trust will begin. This is the Pension-type benefit we voted to set up in July. All Full-Time, Half-Time, and Part-Time members contribute $0.20 per hour ... towards the trust.
We applaud the City Council in Jersey City on approving Ordinance 25-124 to maintain Christ Hospital’s 16-acre campus as a Medical Zone.
The term of office begins January 1, 2026, and ends December 31, 2027. Congratulations to all those elected and thank you to every candidate for your commitment to serving Local 5185.
It's been a big year for our union! Together, we've fought off management deleting our PTO, won countless grievances, took a historic strike vote, and won one of the strongest Contracts in New Jersey!
Management recently announced that they have decided to outsource all workers in the Bayonne Lab. Our Contract states that before any final decision on outsourcing, they must consult with us - they never did!
